The Inns of Court Alliance for Women are holding a Menopause Workshop with contributions from leading legal and medical practitioners.

The talk will be an opportunity to hear from Dr Louise Newson, GP and renowned Menopause Specialist and educator, in discussion with The Hon. Mrs Justice Bacon DBE and Lyndsey de Mestre KC about the menopause, the variety of ways it can impact those at the Bar and in the Judiciary and how we might address its impacts.

The aim of this event is to both educate and progress the discussion about how we individually and collectively can address the impact of the menopause on the retention and progression of women in the law. The talk will be followed by a drinks reception, for those attending in person, to continue the discussion and networking.

Speakers:

  • Chaired by Brie Stevens-Hoare KC, Gatehouse Chambers (Lincoln’s Inn ICAW Co-Convenor)
    Brie is a leading silk in the latest editions of The Legal 500 and Chambers UK. In recent years she won Barrister of the Year at the Modern Law Awards and Chambers UK’s Real Estate Silk of the Year Award. She is a co-convenor of ICAW and a member of the Lincoln’s Inn EDI Committee.
  • Lyndsey de Mestre KC, XXIV Old Buildings
    Lyndsey has been practising at the business and property Bar for over 20 years and was appointed silk in February 2018. She is a full-time arbitrator and mediator and her expertise is in business related disputes of all types.
  • Lynda Bailey
    Lynda Bailey is a former West Midlands Police Inspector, where she began advocating for menopause awareness and became the menopause lead for the West Midlands Association of Women in Policing. She continued advocating for menopause awareness through her venture, Talking Menopause. More recently, Lynda has begun her new initiative Making Menopause Work which seeks to help workplaces foster open, confident conversations about menopause.
  • Dr Louise Newson, founder of Newson Health
    Louise Newson is a physician, menopause specialist and member of the UK Government’s Menopause Taskforce. She is also an award-winning doctor, educator, and author, committed to increasing awareness and knowledge of perimenopause and menopause.
